Moncton, February 11, 2025 – The CHU Dumont Foundation’s Valentine’s Day Gala, presented by National Bank of Canada, took place last Saturday. Thanks to the 350 attendees, partners and sponsors, the Foundation raised $110,350, which will be invested in the purchase of an EEG machine for the CHU Dumont Pediatric Clinic in Dieppe. Since its first edition, the Valentine’s Day Gala has helped raise more than $1.7 million.
The Vice-Chair of the CHU Dumont Foundation’s Board of Directors, Chantal Cormier, feels grateful for the support of the public that, year after year, actively participates in the success of the Foundation’s initiatives.
“It is the unconditional support of the community and our partners that allows us to succeed in fulfilling our mandate. The Valentine’s Day Gala is no exception. The extreme generosity shown by our official presenter National Bank of Canada, partners, sponsors and participants will allow us to support the Pediatric Clinic and therefore contribute to improving healthcare services for your New Brunswick youth,” Cormier said.
For Dr. Michel Sylvain, pediatric neurologist, the Foundation's commitment to improving care and services at the Dumont Hospital is essential. “The purchase of an EEG machine for the Pediatric Clinic will not only enable us to make an accurate diagnosis much more quickly but will also enable the child and family to receive all the medical care related to the neurological problem, in the same place, in an environment perfectly adapted to pediatric clientele”.
Dr. Sylvain explains: “The electroencephalogram (EEG) is an examination that records the electrical activity produced by the brain. This allows us to confirm a diagnosis of epilepsy and follow its evolution, as well as its response to treatment. Epilepsy is very common in children, and any delay in diagnosis can compromise brain development and maturation.”
According to Gilles Allain, CEO of the CHU Dumont Foundation, the evening was a great success. “We had forecast a profit of $100,000. I am extremely proud to exceed our objective, raising $110,350. I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to all our partners, sponsors and guests for their generosity and kindness towards improving healthcare for our young patients,” concluded Mr. Allain.
Save the date of February 14 for the 2026 Gala!
