A 34th campaign for the Tree of Hope!

As in previous years, the organization invites all New Brunswickers to give generously to the cause.

“With the great success of last year’s campaign, we are proud to announce that this tradition lives on,” explains Nadine Martin, CHU Dumont Foundation's Executive Director. “Throughout the campaign’s history, the community answered our call, came together, and allowed us to achieve great things for the well-being of all cancer patients and their loved ones!”

The 2021 campaign raised the million dollars necessary to improve magnetic resonance imagery (MRI) at the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre.

This year, Réjean Després, Vice President of Personal and Commercial Banking at the National Bank, and his niece, pre-med student Isabelle Thériault, become the Tree of Hope’s ambassadors.

“In our family, the Tree of Hope is one of our most valued traditions! For many years now we have supported the campaign, but since November 2019, it means even more to us,” says the pair.

“When illness strikes, life takes on a completely different meaning. Following my nephew Samuel’s diagnosis, at age 13, our whole family was devastated. Life is very fragile and it’s important to give while you can,” adds Mr. Després, who is also a member of the CHU Dumont Foundation’s Board of Directors.

“My little brother may have lost his battle, but it is his strength that pushes us, to this day, to do all we can for those affected by the illness and their loved ones,” Ms. Thériault adds.

Once again, campaign results will be revealed during a special program presented by Radio-Canada Acadie. Everyone supporting the cause is invited to tune in to ICI Première between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 26th. Results will also be posted on social media.

The Tree of Hope’s campaign is supported by volunteers across the province who, every year, raise funds towards its success.

Since its beginning in 1989, the campaign has allowed over 32 million dollars to be raised. The funded projects are based on needs identified at the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre and the CHU Dumont departments offering ongoing care to cancer patients, such as the Mgr. Henri-Cormier Lodge.
